Ben Mahler is a fine art photographer & printmaker, based in Antwerp, Belgium.

He specialised in oil printing.

The oil pigment process works on the same principle as lithographic printing > oil and water don’t mix.

The oil print process is a photographic printmaking process that dates back to the mid 19th century.

To create these oilprints, Ben Mahler uses fine art cotton paper, gelatine and Japanese oilbased inks.

It took four years to document, reinvent, and learn this process.

The oil print process is a slow process. It takes a lot of time to make one oilprint.
